We did serial casting for five weeks this fall for elbow contracture of my 12 year old. The first casting was uncomfortable the first day but no complaints after that. If there was any chafing when they took off the cast they would just add extra padding that week and it took care of it. Ben enjoyed picking a different color (Penn State blue, orange for Halloween etc.) cast each week and was allowed to participate in gym and sports activities. It did bring more attention to his injured arm so he was a little nervous about that. We got a 10 degree improvement in 5 weeks. He is taking a break and we will go back in February for another session. His arm is still at about 11 degrees right now and we are all pleased with it!
