Jennifer,
We have not started aqua therapy yet but I think I remember other people saying that the ideal temp is 90 degrees.

95 is definitely a swamp! plus it will be hard to regulate chemicals..

this is what we learned in our training - 90-94 for a therapy pool

this is what I've experienced with the WATSU work that I do...

89 definitely causes shivering (bad)
90 is good
91-92 is perfect

I get too hot in 93-94 (but that's me - can't take too much heat)

it all requires a lot of hydration too so keep water bottles around

hope you have a great time!

btw - they have those solar covers that work really well with the outdoor pools - it'll at least keep 'some' of the heat in I think

The solar cover work well to keep the heat in but you have to take them off every morning and put back on at night with a big roller thing at one end of the pool... We had to be extremely cautious about the kids - solar cover can be dangerous with small children because if one slips under it - It is hard to get them out... our kids were bigger when we put it on and we still worried that they could fall in fooling around...

We had one in our other house and it was great for me because it is cool up here... but it did not get the pool much above 85... but that was better then 70 LOL.... It had to be very hot for the pool to heat up using a solar cover...

Kath- but the solar cover (this is the one that's like expensive bubble wrap) should work to try and keep some of the heat in once it's heated so that you don't lose too much heat on a windy day or chilly night...right?

I didn't fully express that above..a case of brain moving faster than fingers...

Jennifer what kind of pool do you have? And what kind of heater are you planning on? just curious...

Yes Francine

I thought when we bought one it would heat up our pool. It did keep it warm at night and kept the heat in. Alone it is not great for heating up the pool. If used with regular heater it could save energy.

We had inground 20 x 40 maybe that makes a difference. It is bulky and heavy takes two people to roll out and roll up. It was the huge bubble wrap ...LOL... on a big roll.... kept at one end of the pool and sometime moved to the side but that took two people to do.

Our pool keeps theirs at 92 to 94. I go work with Michaela and then I stay and do water aerobics. I decided I needed to do something for myself for a change and Michaela's old enough to sit and wait for 45 minutes. i just take coloring book and crayons and she watchesfrom the side. I can't believe the difference it makes doing the excercise in the water. My ankles, knees and hips don't take the brunt of it anymore. I love it. Also I need to be setting the example for michaela with all the health problems in our family it looks like she's inherited.
