Just throwing this out to see if anyone has had this done, and to get your thoughts.
OK...it seems that this proceedure would be minimally invasive, but I'm not sure how it would affect my injury. I know that arthritis is causing my joint pain in my shoulder. And at times it gets pretty bad. I wonder if the arthritis could be removed arthroscopically ?? I also wonder if I would be setting myself up for more pain. What do you think?? Anyone had this done??? In any joint on your body???

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.
Re: arthroscopic surgery for arthritis
Hi George....i got the crunching and grinding in the good shoulder a year or so back, thought it might be arthritis onset, since then i've been really careful to stop doing stuff if i feel a twinge and (touch wood) it's gone away, the horse riding has helped LOADS with all my long term issues, i think it must be the posture but i've also read on some knit yer own muesli love and peace type website that contact with horses is as beneficial as with dolphins for healing, and a lot more eco friendly (since moving here to NZ i've learned that keeping dolphins in captivity or swimming with wild ones is a very big no no) so forget the arthroscopy george get a horse :0) btw, i know that 2/3 adults over 50 get arthritis anyway, but i had read it was much more likely in people who have had any kind of joint surgery....so would the arthroscopy help arthritis?
