Hi,
My name is Tami Rizer and Kyle was born in 1995 with a Right BPI. Since Kyle's birth I have looked for others who have children who have BPI for support but it is hard to find others in my area.
I just started a group on Yahoo groups called Special_BPI_kids. Yahoo groups is a great place for us to find more support for each other. I would like to extend and invatation to everyone who has a child to join, or anyone who is effected by BPI. I thought this would be a great place for us to share our experences and a wonderful place to support each other. You can find the group by going to
www.yahoogroups.com The group name is "Special_BPI_kids If you have any trouble finding it and would like to join, feel free to email me and I can put you on. My email address is

Hi Tami - I just emailed you with support group contacts for your area - there are two in Missouri.
I'm just curious Tami, in your announcement of your new yahoo group... (and please don't take this the wrong way) - but I am curious - have you spent time on this message board? So many people come here - and the support and comraderie on here is great. I was just kinda curious why you want to start another group?
...and at the same time want to extend a welcome to you here.
Also - we have a chatroom going on Wednesady night at 10 pm EST and that has been a wonderful place for support as well. Come check that out too

Let us know how we can support you, ok?
A BPI sister,

I agree with Francine that I think UBPN IS a group...I had trouble with yahoo groups in the past sending me a virus....I don't think I'd do that again.
You're welcome here too!!

For me, UBPN is a network, that focuses specifically on BPI- particularly supportive for people looking for surgical intervention- an excellant resource and place to find support connections-
I help moderate Tanyas online support group ...we have been functional for ... about as long as UBPN has been in existance I think- I love it because the setting is smaller and more personal we are able to cover other aspects of life that are not discussed on a board like this- dumb stuff -important stuff-stuff inapproprate for discussion here at UBPN-both places have been a great source of support- I hope the best for you and your group-I think small intimate groups like that are a great source of support and I think of UBPN as a large entity that foocuses more on just BPI stuff, whereas the other groups focus on the other stuff, but we all have the common denominater of having a child with a bpi so we can relate in similar ways-(but not always, hahahahaha)
good luck- Ill come check it out

I have to agree with Mary. I think UBPN serves a good and useful purpose, but I think the list I'm on serves a different yet just as valuable purpose. I lurk here daily, post occasionally I have goten tons of valuable information from UBPN. However Tanya's group is just more intimate. We discuss so much, little often nonBPI related stuff. We laugh, support each other in other areas, debate totally off topic stuff. I have to say it's been my lifeline as far as keeping my head on straight, and lifting me out of my occasional funks. Plus I feel like I get a more well rounded veiw on dealing with BPI being apart of different forums. Tere is room in cyberland for various types of support groups. I don't think a new list will take away from UBPN, and I'm sure they will refer people here at times. I know Francine wasn't voicing animosity(sp?) just curious. I just wanted to express my support and best wishes for the new group also.

Francine, No I am new the the message boards. I see what you mean though about people coming here for support. This seems like such a wonderful place to get in touch with others. I had only started a group because I am on a couple of other ones for different things and I have made such great friends through them. I was no aware how wonderful the message boards here are! NO CLUE!!!! Thank you for your wonderful welcome though!
Tami

Yes, I too would like to know where her group is. See, I didn't know anything about this message board until last night when I was surfing the net looking for some type of support for BPI. When I came upon this web site, I thought it would be great to have a more intimate place for people to gather to share other things as well as stuff about BPI. That is the only reason I started Special_BPI_kids! I was hoping to build a unique list where we could share all the pains and joys of raising children with BPI or where people with BPI could come and share with us.
I think these message boards are wonderful though!
Thanks!
Tam

I understand the need for a smaller and more intimate group. The chatroom is like that for me.
