The other day I was reading a post and it made me wonder just how many babies does this happen to and how many different states. So I wanted to do my own research on this message board since alot of the post here have been so helpful to me and my little one. I want everyone who reads this to simply put their name, their injured child's name, sex of child, which arm has Brachial Plexus, age of child, how much they weighed at birth, the hospital name, and the city and state where it occurred. Ours is as follows:
Dylecia Spencer
Keiarra Davis-female-LOBPI
2 1/2yrs. old 8lbs.3oz.
South Fulton Medical Center
Atlanta, Georgia
I would like to thank everyone in advance for helping me with this research.
Again thanks for your help.
Dylecia

It would probably also be helpful to state whether any other risk factors were present at the birth, such as use of epidurals, forceps etc as high birth weight is just one factor and many lower weight babies are also affected.

Re: Everyone Please Respond!!!!!!
Just so you know..I'm new at this. I just started using the internet so I hope I'm doing this right. Anyway, My daughter is Sydney she's 3 1/2 years old. She was born 11/19/98 at Christ Hospital in Cinti, OH. She was 10lbs 13oz. at birth and she now has Erbs Palsy in her left arm. While I'm at it..we attended the Brachial Plexus Support Group picnic at the Columbus Zoo yesterday. It was very sad to see the number of children and families this has affected. We met with Dr. Shenaq from Texas Children's Hospital and he suggested performing the Mod Quad on her in August. Is there anyone out there who would has been through this that may want to answer some questions for me? thanks!
By the way my name is Deanna and my husbands name is Marty.

Bradley Shay Steigerwalt- ROBPI
born@ 6lbs 4 oz. now 4months old
Delivery @ St. Lukes Hosp Bethlehem, Pa.
We were in Ohio also, 1st time at a pinic, what a heart warming experience having so much support. The BPI community, what a group of kind people! I thought Karen Ritz and everyone else who helped, did an incredible job.
I am sad to have found out that it was suggested that Bradley have the Primary and the Caps.surgery. This will be done when he is 6 months old in August. Has anyone's childen had these 2 surgeries done at the same time?
After yesterday's experience, my heart is telling me that what we are doing is the right thing.

Re: Everyone Please Respond!!!!!!
FYI, if you are involved in a lawsuit or plan to be at some point, then I don't think you should post the name of the hospital here. In fact, I believe, but I could be interpreting the policies wrong, that putting the name of the hospital here is in violation of the UBPN message board policies. The way I understand (again, I could be wrong), if we had something go wrong with a BP surgery, then we're not allowed to post the name of the dr or hospital here. Following that principle, I don't think it would be permitted to post the name of the hospital where the original BPI occurred. If I'm wrong, I hope that someone from UBPN will clarify this point. I'm not trying to start something here, just trying to pass along information (which hopefully is correctly interpreted as far as the board is concerned and which could be helpful to those in lawsuits). -Anon
