Night brace

Question for all -
Aidan is now 2 1/2 and will need to continue his night brace post Triangle Tilt surgery for another 4 months. He has started to put a big 2 yr old fuss up about wearing his brace. He wants it on the other arm, he crys, he screams. Any and all forms of protest. We feel like we are torturing him by doing this. I know how important it is for him to wear it and have never had him protest anything up until now. I always said we would continue on our path until we felt he was telling us otherwise. What do we do? Any thoughts or similiar experiences would be a help!

Well you probably won't like my idea but it worked for Maia... I turned her splinty into a "voice" and it had an opinion and emotions and was her "friend" and talked to her...and splinty got very sad when Maia didn't want to wear him... Poor Splinty. Maia was splinted for two years post capsulodesis and when it was time to take the splint off at night - she CRIED AND CRIED!!! she was so sad to get rid of splinty...and so she wore splinty for another week then told him that he got to sleep with someone else and she put him on a huge doll that grandma bought for splinty.

Good luck! It's hard - especially with the twosies. eeeks! Hope you can find some middle ground.

I don't suggest rewards for wearing splinty though.... that really doesn't work well - there are expectations set up for constant rewards.... bad bad bad
