It should cause paralysis of the muscle, on a temporary basis. My upper trap in in a complete spasm 100% of the time. I cant take it anymore and am up for trying anything!
Does this make sense?

I get botox in my left leg every 4 months for over a year now. Same reason, to decrease the spasticity/spasms that occur.
I am LOBPI but have Transverse Myelitis at T1 since 2004 which destroyed part of my spinal cord and paralyzed me from the chest down. Botox helps me so much to function (walk) better.
Hope it helps you too! It can take up to 2 weeks to kick in completely, and will last anywhere from 2-4 months (some up to 6 months).
How it works (for those curious):
Botox blocks the transmission of signals from nerves to the muscles, by hindering the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, (the chemical which relays the signals). This causes the muscle to relax.
Over the course of 3 to 6 months the nerves will send out new ‘sprouts’ and the muscle will start receiving signals once again. Hence the need for more treatments.
