New to board, but 61 yrs. old BP injured at birth

I was so glad to find this website! Since my injury was many years ago, the only thing done was a cast, however, I did have a fair recovery. Now that I am getting older, things have kind of rolled down hill! I am on some pain killers as the numbness, aches, and pains associated with BP combined with arthritis have made them necessary. Saying active and trying to exercise keeping the blood moving and muscles limber have helped me remain fairly funcitional. I imagine many of us have pushed ourselves a bit too much at times, but pushing myself to remain active has helped. In addition to medication, I still walk a great deal, use a spa, an inversion table, do mild exercises, eat properly, take my supplements, meditate and try to keep a positive attitude. This site and Kath have been really helpful with information on disability and experiences of others. Thanks.

Welcome, JM!

I'm new myself and have found these boards very helpful. I'll be 46 at the end of this month, also with BP since birth. Just wish I'd had this kind of support when I was growing up. I was always the odd man out in so many situations--from a simple handshake to gym class.

Well, at least we're here now.

WELCOME, JM and Charlie O! I am happy for you that you didn't have to wait until age 66 like I did to find this wonderful UBPN Family of support, information, acceptance and VALIDATION of my pain and suggestions how to relieve it and how to save my "good" arm from more overuse.

Come back often and ask any question too there are no dumb questions in this Family!! :)

JM,

Welcome to the FAMILY, and you're right about this site and Kath being invaluable to us all !!

I personally feel that we need this place AND EACH OTHER so much more NOW then when we were young.

Young was tough enough, but nothing like getting "older" with this injury. We are ALL here for each other.

Welcome, Tina BiOBPI/52

Hi Judith
Glad to see you posted... I've been taking a little break from the computer. I don't think I ever shut off my computer for so long in the last ten years.

I turned it off and just did not turn it on again for a few days. It was good to take a break because even when I travelled I had the lap top so I still checked in...

I'm back and have been reading the boards and yesterday did tons of emails... so I'm caught up for now.

Glad to see you guys are all around to welcome the new kids on the boards... LOL...
