mayo trip
mayo trip
so i go to mayo on the 23 and its been six months since surgery. my docs said my sugury went as well as it could of gone, yet i dont notice any mussle twitching. i was wondering if thats a sigh of an unsucessful surgery. or can you still have mussle inervation with out the twiching sensation. well i find out soon but the waiting just drives me crazy.
Re: mayo trip
I'm sorry I can't offer any insight....my husband is only 4 weeks post-op, but I'm interested in hearing how recovery has been for you, if you don't mind sharing. What surgery did you have done?? The Mayo team transfered a tricep nerve to my husband's deltoid to try to regain shoulder movement. They felt very optimistc about the surgery, but of course nothing is guaranteed, and it feels like such a long wait to know whether the surgery was actually successful. I wish you well on the 23rd.

Re: mayo trip
Have patience, but stay aware of progress or not. My deltoid took about 15 months before it started getting any action.Try water therapy, with the weight of your arm relieved by floating. I found my best progress doing this.
Re: mayo trip
I had a gracilus muscle transfer. It took almost 10 months before I could make it twitch. Its been a year and a half now, I pick up the arm at the elbow. The Doc's achieved success!
Re: mayo trip

Re: mayo trip
hemi C7 contra-lateral crossover to deltoid (half of my good side C7 nerve grafted across my neck over to my injured side's shoulder.
The expected wait time was about 18 months, so I was early.
This was just one of the many different nerve grafts that I had done at the Mayo.
