Life Insurance and BPI

Post by Cara »

Ok, we applied for life insurance for Rosalynn through Horace Mann (my work's insurance) They denied her at 1:55 pm the day before her surgery. (Some how they managed to take money out of my check for 7 mos. before reaching this decision. We tried to get life insurance through my husbands work, agian they took money out for several weeks before deciding they would not cover her. Anyone else have problems getting life insurance for their child with BPI? Any suggestions of companies that won't deny life insurance for a child with BPI. I don't get why BPI would make a difference. I realize the surgery aspect gives a greater risk, but we applied the first time before we ever thought she would need surgery.

We have State Farm Life Insurance for our son. It was a long process where they gathered their information from our Drs. but it finally went through. We have had our life insurance through them for many years, for us and our older daughters. Also our agent said it would be better to apply when surgery wasn't scheduled so we waited until after his primary surgery at age 4 months. I think he was approved around 6/7 months of age. I hope this helps. If we would have applied within 10 days of his birth we wouldn't have had any problem they would have had to accept him because of our other policies. But I just wasn't thinking about life insurance for him at that point as I was in BPI shock!

We have life insurance through ALFA but they also looked into it before covering Thomas. We did it before his primary surgery.
