Sidney's Update

Post by Sidney's Mom »

Well we are now almost one month out from the Botox injections. Sidney doesn't use her arm as much anymore, but that was to be expected. Her contracture isn't as loose as we would like either. So far, and I can't speak for my husband, but I'm a little disappointed, but only time will tell. We meet up again with Dr. Grossman and Dr. Price in May and Dr. Price has already mentioned a possible muscle tranfer surgery. Anyone have any insight into that one? (Silly me, look at who I'm asking, of course you guys do!) I will be sure to search past threads.

Good news... we came to a settlement with the hospital in Sidney's case. Tomorrow we go to mediation with the doctor, his clinic and the insurance company's attorney (I fondly refer to him as the pencil pusher.) I really have a lot of sympathy for those of you who have gone through the litigation process. It's been hard, real hard. My husband and I are differing on whether to accept the doctor's attorney's offer, whatever it might be or go to trial. My husband thinks we can win at trial, I have my own reservations about that. Anyone care to comment on their experiences? Feel free to e-mail me.

Thanks for all of your support guys. It's nice to know we're not alone....

When we were trying to get Frankies arm straighter and looser we kept getting to 35% and that was it. We got an x ray and it showed his elbow was dislocated at the ulnar from muscle imbalance and a bony deformitiy that had formed preventing it from ever getting straight even with muscle transfers get an x ray the ortho dr told us the dislocated elbow could be put back but wouldn't hold.
