scar tissue???

Hi everyone,

My TBPI is due to surgery...I had a total shoulder replacement last July 18th and ended up with it as a complication...lucky me. I just had my second EMG and it showed what I expected...nerves are regenerating in biceps, triceps, wrist and hand but not in the deltoid or upper back muscles. So my question is this: b/c the surgical sight (my shoulder) has been stationary for six months, am I building up an abnormal amount of scar tissue...and will that most likely hinder my recovery once the nerves start to hopefully regenerate?

I'm worried that if I start to regain use of my shoulder, I'll have too much scar tissue to use it effectively.

Any opinions?

I don't know if keeping the shoulder stationary will "build up an abnormal amount of scar tissue". However just being injured the shoulder may have some scar tissue and yes this can hinder the nerve impulses getting through. Dustin did have scar tissue removed from the shoulder. Sorry, can't say it was a miracle fix all. He did feel he could move somewhat easier after it was removed but he is still non-functional in gravity but able to move out of gravity. They did say that there is an area where the axillary nerve gets entwined with other nerves, muscle ect. and it is impossible to get to. I think this is what is powering the deltoids and shoulder. However they do feel cleaning out the rest of the scar tissue is helpful.
