Kentucky

Post by KimZoe2008 »

Hi. My daughter Zoe is 5 1/2 with a left obpi. I havent' been on the boards in a while, but I was wanting to locate some families in Kentucky. We will be moving to Murray, KY in the next few months from Missouri. Also was looking for a specialist in that area.
My e-mail is Milnerfamily2008@aol.com
Thank you

Kimberly:
I'm not from the beautiful state of Kentucky - we're from Ohio. However, my daughter saw the great team of physicians at Cincinnati Childrens Brachial Plexus Center! I hope this is some help to you!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: My name is Bridget, my son Brayden has a LOBPI. He was born 5-14-07 and weighted 11lbs 3ozs and was 22inches long and got stuck on my pelvis coming out. All 5 nerves were involved 2 ruptured and 3 avulsed, and also had Horner's Syndrome. He had primary surgery in St. Louis with Dr. Parks when he was 3 months old. He used synthetic materials to fuse the nerves together, because the nerves in his calves were not long enough. Brayden currently does aqua therapy, PT, OT and speech therapy. He has little movement in his arm and hand, but that does not stop him from having fun and being a normal boy!!!
Location: Owensboro, KY

I live in Owensboro,KY which is about 2 hours north of Murray. My son is 9 months old with a LOBPI also. There are no specialist, unfortunately, in KY. We currently go to St. Louis Children's Hospital and see Dr. Parks. We were also told there is a specialist in Cincinnati. Those are the only places that I have heard of. I am not for sure if Vanderbilt has one or not my doctor would have mentioned it to me if there was.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. I will be glad to answer.

Here is a link to the St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Thought it might come in handy.
