Starting TES for 1st time in 4 months (post surgery)...

last night was our first night after a four month hiatus and we tried out some new ideas that went over pretty well.
The first think I learned from my chiropractor - because I have been receiving e-stim on my upper back for the last couple months. They heat the electrodes on a warm pad for a couple of seconds...hmmmmmmm. And to think that I keep Maia's electrodes in the refrigerator and never thought of warming them? Well I did last night and she went "aaaahhhhhhhh"... it's the little things ya know?
Then instead of using tape - which is truly painful especially if you are using the 6" electrodes, I put on her very tight cotton undershirt that we used under the splint and it worked very well at holding the electrodes on without tape! If you are interested in knowing what undershirt this is, we got it from Kids Nature, it's the organic cotton (striped) longsleeve undershirt. We wash it in hot water and made it shrink down so it was pretty tight.
This idea came about because the TES teacher said that we might want to try out a SPIO compression garment to hold on the back electrodes (maia's placements are on either side of her scapula) and I was wondering how a lycra garment would work on Maia's skin because of the eczema...does it have enough airflow? how about summer time.... didn't think it would work..but this cotton one - well it's as great idea. Thank you Leslie for the idea.
The other thing she asked me when I asked her about electrodes falling off so easily.....how long do I hold down the electrodes before letting go? So last night I sat there holding them for a minute before letting go.
So..there's some new ideas....
