question for Karlos or Athos

Hi guys,
I haven't had much time to post lately. How are you getting on now since your tendon transfers? Robbie has his splint removed and is doing the exercises. He has only a little movement but it's only been a few days. His wrist swells up quite a lot after he does his exercises. Did this happen to either of you?
Hope everything is going well for you
Hope you'll write back soon
Heather

Hi Heather,
Glad to hear things are progressing ok,Im now 3mth post op and everything is working fine, altho the hand still tires easyly it is getting stronger week by week.
In the begining i found it better to do the exercises in the morning so iv had all night to rest it was easyer,by tea time it was very tired and needed resting but things have improved a lot since then, still a long road tho and will prob be another 3mth before it all comes naturally.
To answer your question my whole wrist and forearm swole up and it was around 1mth post op that the swelling went down to normal,it even looked as tho there was some packing of some kind under the skin ,Dont know if there was but as i say it does reduce.
Bet Robbie's glad to get out of that splint thats prob one of the worst bits over all downhill now
Keep us up to date

Hi Heather,
first of all good luck to Robbie.
As far as I'm concerned the swelling is part and parcel of the package. I was operated at the beginning of January, and my wrist is still a bit swollen, but not as much as it used to be. The swelling is coming down, but slowly. In fact now it's almost normal.
I guess u need to be a bit patient. I also went to see my GP about the swelling and he said it was quite normal. As long as it diminishes with time and it doesn't hurt too much then I think u are ok.
All the best, Athos
