Hello all...
Yes, the weather is changing and I'm having major problems with the zingers again.
I was doing laundry the other day and was holding only a pair of jeans in my left hand. The zing went all the way through my body it felt like it was going to drop me to my knees.
So, I started up with my e-stim unit again. It does seem to help a bit but it's such a pain in the rear to hook it up and unhook it especially when I'm at work.
I started taking vitamin B plus C and haven't really noticed a change.
My fingers seem to be a lot more numb then they used to be and it seems as if my hand has been swelling from overuse.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
My next step was to try a heating patch to try to keep my neck/shoulder area warmer. It seems as if the neck/shoulder area burns a lot more too when I get these zings.
Anyways, I'm still plugging away here. Hope all is well with everyone.
Thanks all.
Rachel from MT

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I tend to buy a lot of fleece to wear this time of year.
If my arm, back and neck are warm I have less pain.
I get B-12 shots for the zingers and right now I am about three weeks overdue and have had a few.
I get a shot every month, when I was a teenager and in my growth spurts my doctor gave me B-12 to help and it does.
You can also buy b-12 to place under your tongue twice a day and it works ...
I need B Complex to help me keep my nervous system in balance...
Well, as much in balance as possible.
I hope you feel better soon.

Re: Zingers again
Kath,
Thanks for the information. I would try to go get B-12 shots but the docs here don't even know what BPI is much less trying to get them to give me a B-12 shot. *L*
I will look for the stuff you put under your tongue. I have been wearing wool sweaters etc. My office is always cold it seems. The other day for the first time I noticed that my left hand was colder than my right hand. That hasn't really ever happened to me before. Who knows, I'm sure the aging process has a lot to do with it.
The e-stim unit helped to wear but its such a pain in the rear end. Anyways...I'll try the under the tongue B's and see what happens next.
Thanks Kath
Your great!!

I find any kind of fleece jackets and even a throw seems to keep my arm warmer...
Most doctors here make no connection between b-12 and the zingers...
But since you can't overdose on B12 they finally gave in and let me have them.
I refused so many stronger drugs, I guess they just figured it was better to let me have it.
I started getting them as a teenager... bless my doctors heart. He was so ahead of his time. He had me on B vitamins since I was a baby.
He told my Mom I needed them because of the nerve damage.
Maybe some of them should read about how Vit.B is used by the body...
B is for the nervous system... ours are damaged...we have stress...stress depletes B and so the vicious cycle goes on and on...
I take the B sublingual when I am to lazy to go get my shot or forget to get it now.
The weather changes here in NY is killing me...
My arm hurts when it's cold and even typing can't keep my hand warm.
UGH... I hate cold!!!

Re: Zingers again
Have the hubby or Kayla give you a massage at night and see if that helps! Wish I knew something tricky to tell you but they are getting me to except mine only go from my wrist to my elbow. Still hurts like crazy though!
Hope yours go away soon!
