Day care (non BPI related)

Post by crystal »

For the first time since my kids where born i'm going back to work. I will be working at Easter Seals! Its a good job but im so scared about putting my kids in day care.does anyone know if there is a web site on questions to ask day care centers. what do i tell them about her arm?does anyone else get there child care paid for from the state and Easter seals? im also having a problem blaming the OB for going back to work. this is something i don't want to do. we said we would always be home with the kids. the medical bills have gotten out of hand though.

Hi Crystal,

I'm actually a Director at a child care center in Tennessee. My son, Cole Michael, has a lobpi and has been going to day care since he was 6 weeks old. I realize how lucky I am to have been able to be there with him... You really shouldn't have any problems though. Trust your gut feelings. Definitely do a pre-enrollment visit to tour the center and meet the teachers. They should give you a copy of their centers policies and state licensing requirements at that time. Any scores from the health dept. and Dept. of human services license should be posted by the front entrance or desk. Not that a perfect score means a perfect center, but it does show they must make some sort of effort for a quality center. You can also involve the teachers in your child's plan. Our OT was more than willing to come to the center to meet with the teachers and discuss any questions. I'm not sure how flexible yours is, but that might put your mind at ease a bit more, as well as the teachers. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. I'll try to help. Good luck!
