Hey guys... we have already begun planning for the next camp! It is going to be in sunny Florida!
I am looking for some help here... Ryan, Joe and I had a great time at camp in Seattle but it would be awesome to have some more and new TBPI come out!
So... what do we need to bring you all out to camp? What type of activities are we looking for?
I am open to any and all suggestions... feel free to email ant questions that you might have.

What area are you looking to have it in, Courtney?

Trick Dustin into it? lol Some how I need for him to talk to you all. He thinks these boards are just a bunch of injured people whining. I have told him it is not and I think he would get a lot out of it, rather than me passing it on, but so far no interest. Will try to work on it. If you all go to his myspace or facebook and meet him without him knowing you are injured then bring it up after he knows you a bit, it may encourage him. OH but don't tell him I said so, I would be in soooo much trouble.

Re: Looking for some advise
These are some good things to think about for sure... how to get them to the boards... to want to then go to camp and meet others...
I found the message boards on my own... then brought my mom here. I was and still am interested in learning anything and everything that I can about this injury. There are times that it makes me feel crazy or a bit overwhelmed... but then knowing what I know makes me feel better too! I am not on the boards as much anymore as my life is heading in a different direction these days (got a job, finishing grad school, etc.) and I am not allowing my life to revolve around my arm like it used to. Some people, as I have seen over the last few years though, have no interest in the message boards or even chatting with people who have the same injury. For me it was very therapeutic!! I went to the UK a few years back for their gathering... they are twisted and it is GREAT! I wish that people here had that sense of humor about the injury... I'm not saying I'm glad to have it, but I do so lets get on with life... It took me a few years to have this attitude, but now I can't picture life any other way.
ok... sorry for rambling... how to get them to come here?? That one I will have to think about a bit!! Tell them I am here and I am nuts!
I really think that it is something you have to have an interest in and some just don't! It certainly is not something that you can make anyone do! There is some whining here but there is so much support, through the good and bad!
I would like to plan a TBPI Vegas weekend or something of that nature... fun, relaxing, no schedules at all! I do not have the time right now... and I am not sure how many others would be interested... I know some adult OPBI are!
We are looking around Melbourne FL I believe... that general area. We are only in the early planning stages and have not yet found a place...
Open for any and all suggestions... thanks for letting me ramble!!

Re: Looking for some advise
Well, as you know Court, me and Neil were definitely coming over to the camp this year, but we had such a pile of problems with all sorts of things going wrong that we just couldn't make it. We kept trying right up to the last minute and very nearly left here on a flight 15 hours before camp was due to start but ...well...I think I told you what happened. We certainly weren't in the right frame of mind after that..anyway...saw THIS in your post above:-

I would definitely be up for a trip to Vegas! Even better with no plans or schedules (I'm not very good at those!) so if you do get the idea to float, let me know and I'll come over. See if we can get a few of the UK nutters to come over too...it could be a blast! I need something to look forward to!

PS This thing about people not wanting to interact in any way shape or form with others with a TBPI...I can fully understand it.
Did you know it took me a good 5 years before I even bothered meself to talk to anyone else with this injury??
I had plenty of opportunity..Neil and I worked on the Bike Shows and Rallies throughout the summer for a11 those years, and every now and again someone with a TBPI would turn up in the stall, but I never, not once talked to them or told them I had the same injury.
Still don't know why to this day that I did that.
It would have saved me from years of isolation with this if I had taken the plunge and got talking, but I just couldn't. I suppose I had to feel comfortable with talking about it to others in the same situation..dunno...all I do know is when I first got on the Internet, and found Jen, Hazel and Mikey on UBPN, it all fell into place and suddenly, I could interact, talk and share stuff about this injury and how it made me feel.
Now look at me...I can't shut up now!! lol
So, have patience folks. :0) That old saying about leading a horse to water, but not being able to make it drink is a good one..people can't be forced. They have to come to this in their own time. I think Court's idea of a less formalised more 'adult' meeting/social is a bluddy good one and could well bring a few people out of the woodwork...!

Re: Looking for some advise
Well I did want to come. I really enjoy all the people here, whining and otherwise. I usually find the whining is well deserved and not many stay at that point for long.
But, really for us Labor day weekend is hard. School starts right about then. So if the younger kids come they would have to miss school or be really tired the first couple of days. Also, Dustin was getting things ready for college. Must say he's good at procrastinating. He still had books coming 2 weeks after school started. Which I suppose was because he hadn't decided which school to attend until the week before it started.
Really, I think he and Court had a good visit when we met her in Mayo. Course I pulled a fast one there, he didn't know I had it set up. Don't think he still knows for sure. I know he would enjoy meeting you all but he is focused on being as normal as possible. So, that means hanging out with "normal" people. Not that he is mind you, after all he is 20. After he came back mentally from the Brain trauma he seems to have a great fear that people will think he is handicap, especially mentally.

Courtney, the boating group that my husband and I belong to have had several events at a place called River Ranch. Here is a link to get an idea of all they have to offer... http://www.wgriverranch.com/
They are very accomodating to groups. There is a lot to do on property. Just a place to check out.
