I didn't have luck with any airline except I would suggest you atleast put paperwork into Southwest Airlines for free flights. They have a strange arrangement where they don't want people calling them to inquire about approval of their application....we didn't call, and in fact SWA said they never received the medical fax that came directly from our Doctor, so we were too late by time I finally called. The Doctor did in fact fax the paperwork...but, regardless, we didn't get free flights. But, I have had friends that were successful in going through the SWA process. Best wishes to you.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: Hi! I am Laura, the mom of Tyler, who has a ROBPI. I've been a member of this site since 1998 and owe a great deal to the wonderful people in the UBPN community who have helped us along the way get what we needed to get done for Tyler. Tyler is now 14 years old and in the 9th grade. He's a super bright kid and loves his video games. Tyler had the mod quad surgery with Dr. Shenaq shortly before he passed. That was his first and only surgery. Now that he is older he is requesting additional surgery. He'd like to be able to supinate. Our goal is for Summer 2013.

I don't know anything about the Angel Flight, but we did have great luck with Southwest! My doc sent all the paperwork in, and a few weeks later, the airline called and said we had 3 free roundtrip tickets! I was so happy, I cried! And it got even better! During one of our connecting flights, something broke with the landing gear while we were still grounded. Because of the inconvience of having to wait, they sent everyone on the roster free roundtrip tickets to anywhere they fly! So, on top of getting the tickets for free in the first place, we got 3 more free roundtrip tickets. All I can say, is YEAH Southwest! Goodluck!

:) pride has never been a problem with me, thank goodness
after my hubby's head injury & we lost everything (back in 1999) I learned fast to take care of him and our 3 kids. (now 4 kids...lol) Our local shriner's only pays for one trip and we used that to get a appt. to see if he would /could/ should do the surgery. Wow sur wish i worked out side our home, i get payed to take care of my disabled hubby, at least till Angel starts school next year. so the co-worker thing is out. didn't think to call the airline my self good idea. Oh and Lina is out of the office till next tuesday..... & most place need a 30 day notice, we'll cut it short but like always by the grace of God it will work out :) just normaly lucky that way :)
Thanks again

Francine's site is www.injurednewborn.com. About 5 years ago her site saved our lives! I don't know if she still has all the info listed, but she used to have ALL the info for flights, the hospitals, what to expect during the surgery process, what to bring...etc. EVERTHING. Check it out.
