Does anyone know of any children who never gained any bicep return? I have a 2 yr old who had primary surgery at 7 months. He still cannot bend his arm but he has some definition where his bicep muscle would be and he has a little bit of triceps. Any replies would

You might ask your bpi specialist what your options are at this point. Does your son need a secondary surgery (mod quad, for example)? My daughter had a secondary surgery at 34 mo. of age (she had primary at 5 mo.) but it was all nerve work: about 8 nerves in the upper arm were decompressed and scar tissue was removed. We're hoping to see biceps now. We've been doing nighttime and daytime e-stim since last winter. We think there's biceps now but the triceps is so strong it may be overpowering the biceps. Again, it's best to contact your bpi specialist and ask for options.

Thanks for responding to my question. Jordan saw Dr. Nath in the summer @ the Baltimore Zoo. Unfortunately Jordan had fallen asleep by the time Dr. Nath got to him. He recommended the Mod Quad and botox. He also mentioned the nerve transfer to the bicep. It's all just so scary. Do you know if there is a certain age cut off for having the mod quad?

Katie had no bicep whatsoever until about 4 months post mod quad--it seems there was so much scar tissue and compression that nothing was going through so no muscle development. Sr. Shenaq also released the tricep head as they were tight and now her bicep is overpowering the tricep!!! The bicep started out as a tiny little knot in the bicep area and snowballed from there. So don't give up hope!!
