The longest and shortest 2 years of our lives

Well, after 2 long years my husband and I finally saw our daughter Lucy's thumb and fingers move on her injured hand for the first time in her life. And she did it when we asked her to do it! I say it has been the longest and shortest 2 years of our lives because I cannot believe that she is already 2 but waiting for her to recover from this injury seems like it has been 10 years (She had a global injury and primary surgery with only 2 nerve roots to graft to).

Her movement came 2 weeks after we had seen her BPI doctor and the doctor saying that she had hoped to see more in the way of recovery at this point but was happy to see the progress she had made.

I guess that I'm feeling some disbelief because I had just started to come to terms that we were never going to see her hand move. I just wanted to share our joyful news and to thank all of you for the hope that you have shared through your experiences. Will keep you all posted on Lucy's further recovery.

That is great I look forward to hear more progress.
My hand took a very long time to move because I had no surgery.
I seemed to gain more movement as I aged.
I am sure you are all very excited about this news.

Congratulations on the movement she has. It does seem like a long road ahead but she is making progress. The more time passes the more progress she will continue to make. You seem like such great parents and she will benefit a great deal from you both.

Keep your chin up!!
