Hi,

I was injured in a car accident the day after Christmas, 2006. I've been reading these boards but this is actually my first post. I have a rare bpi, or so my dr. Dr. Elkwood, told me. I avulsed t8/c1 or something along those lines. Fortunately, I have use of all my arm except for my hand and fingers.

Anyway, since I have no grip, I had been searching for a way to be able to build and maintain strength in my upper arm, shoulder and chest. Strapping ankle weights around the wrist is only so helpful. I started using a srap that is designed for the ankle but works for the wrist as well. It has a clasp that is intended to clasp onto the pulley/cable weight stacks at most gyms and rehab centers. I bought this one off Amazon made by Altus:
http://www.amazon.com/Altus-Nylon-Ankle ... 623&sr=8-3

It's been very helpful since I started rehab since my surgery in May and eventually getting my sling off. I have a couple more surgeries to do tendon transfers and will be in therapy until at least through next May working on getting my grip back, but I feel better knowing I can work out my muscles using this.

I hope others may also benefit from this if it's not already a commonly used item. I realize most of the cases of bpi have less function in the upper arm, but this can be used with low weight and at least provides an alternative method of working out.

All my best to everyone out there,

22 y/o bpi in new jersey

Jersey Guy,
do you mind if I use this in an article I am writing for Outreach? I am trying to find fvorite splints to write up an article on so that every one has a better idea of the options that may be available to them.
Let me know,
