We had a visit with Dr.Nath last week and to our surprise, he thinks Zavian needs to have the Mod Quad redone. She is only 4 years old and has gone through so much already.....This would be her fourth surgery and I don't know if I can handle it. When she had the MQ originally with Dr.Shenaq she was only 14 months (she did really well!!!), but she is 4 and getting ready to start "real" school(as she calls it) in August. Dr.Nath would like to do surgery on September 27th. He said Zavian has the limited use of the left arm because Dr.Shenaq only did a partial MQ and she needs the complete surgery to receive the optimal benefits. Has anyone here ever had to have the Mod Quad repeated? With everything he plans to do she would be in the statue splint for 6-8 weeks then in a wrist splint for another 10-12 weeks. He said she would be in some type of splint for 6 months.

When doctor Nath di my son's mod quad when he was fourteen months old(HE IS NOW 8 1/2) we did it for experimental reasons, Dr.Nath said he wanted to see what happened and we lived in Huston at the time sooooo I chose to let him do it. He told us it might have to be redone eventually, but to date, Dr. Nath says he looks great. WE probably won't see Dr. Nath until Next yedar again at one of his clinics, but last year he said he was doing amazingly perfect, he even said we could discontinue therapy, which we alreay did at two years old when we lost our insurance..he was amazed, I would get a second opinion, although I love dr. NAth, I still would. I woud think that it Dr. Nath onlly did a partial Mod that could certainly be the problem though Good Luck with you decision making.....I know it is hard....but "REAL" school, that is what Brandon called it too !!!!LOL GAYLE

We will definetely get a second opinion. I know he is a really good doctor but Zavian just had surgery last year. And the timing is terrible with her starting school! I am glad to know that Brandon did really well and I am praying Zavian has the same results. Thank you so much for replying.
