Hi, just wondering if anyone had a recurrence of BPI after healing completely? How did it play out for you? Did you have the same or slightly similar symptoms?
In 1991, I was ejected from a car and suffered nerve damage- I could not straighten my left elbow or pronate my lft arm or use lft thumb flexor (no pain in thumb, but severe pain in arm). I Completely healed in 6-12 months. No specific diagnosis of BPI, but no testing was done and symptoms suggest it was BPI-- 2 nerves affected.
Fast forward- 2007- after 16 healthy yrs of participation in many sports(boy, was I lucky!!!!), I have been diagnosed with Brachial Neuritis in rt arm with unknown cause. I had severe pain behind shoulder and upper arm one morning, May 20, 2007, followed by increasing (extreme) nerve pain in forearm, wrist, upper arm-- I cannot straighten or pronate my rt arm due to excrutiating pain ,all the time. I also have Pain behind my shoulder and in triceps which wakes me at night, but seems to lessen in the daytime. My triceps are weak and my rt arm as a whole is usable but only for very very limited activities-- sports and the like are out of the question. Curiously, unlike pple with "acute Brachial Neuritis" (which the doc thinks i have this time), my symptoms are getting worse by the week (6th week now).
Anybody else have anything like that happen, i.e. a recurrence of a healed injury after a period of time (with unique qualities)? I would be curious to know if this is possible? It seems too wierd that I cannot pronate or extend arm, the same as 16 yrs ago but in the opposite arm!!! Note: I did start to get mild nerve pain in my left arm in the 5th week.
