Blake is 9 weeks post caps/biceplengthening surgery(7 more weeks of the splint at bed!!!), he wants to play t-ball and Lisa T. said he should be able to since he will be without restrictions by then. My question is, I don't know which hand to buy a glove for! He is a strong lefty since his right is his BPI arm, but he uses it too so I don't know if I should buy him a glove for his left arm? Didn't Bridget say before that Ian uses his non affected arm for everything and throws his glove off to throw? My husband suggested that we buy a glove for both hands and see which one works best...I will ask his OT tomorrow since it will be his first visit since surgery...any suggestions? Thank you, Blake is looking forward to t-ball a lot and we are going to be so busy this summer with that and OT 2x and warm water pool.

My son is right OBI and puts the glove on his left hand, stops the ball, then slings his glove off, picks th ball up with his left hand and throws. Once Blake gets the hang of it, he should do it all pretty fast. It's amazing how determined these little fellas are.

My son is four months post op from bicept lenghtening surgery. He starts T-Ball tues. My son is left OBPI. He uses his left arm alot and I think that he might have been a lefty. He throws the ball with his right, wears glove on left hand, but bats left handed not right. He works the glove ok, but uses his right more. At batting it is the oppisite. He will not bat right, insists on batting left. How old is your son? My will be four in June. Good luck with T-Ball.

We went through this exact same thing with Ian. We did buy two gloves, one left and one right, and practiced at home with both of them to see how this would all work best for him. He wanted to throw with his left (injured) arm, but just did not have any strength or control, so quickly opted for throwing with his right. He also opted to wear the glove on his right hand, and so now he fields and throws with his right. He fields the ball, grabs the ball with his left hand, tosses the glove off his right hand to the ground and then throws with his right. He is very fast.
We are now trying to work on tucking the glove under his left armpit instead of throwing it on the ground, because he would like to pitch (he plays baseball now, not t-ball), and to do so he needs to have his glove ready immediately to field after pitching.
I guess the thing that was most important for us was letting Ian determine what would work best for him. I was there to help and offer suggestions, but ultimately he needed to do what his body was most comfortable with, so lots of private practice time away from other people helped him to figure it out on his own.

Hi. Mitchell, who is 7, played Tball for the first time last summer. I posted the same question here then!! We got him a glove for his non-injured hand. That way, he can get his arm up for catching and such. After he catches, he drops his glove and throws. It takes practice but he does pretty well.
