People in severe pain with TBPI

Can anyone tell me what they do for the pain of their injury? Matt is on many narcotics and they affect his way of life and would LOVE to get off of them! Any ideas of how to deal with the pain?

Not really-20 years here with this injury. There are so many options but still risks with all of them. I, however, have just learned to deal with it. Terrible, huh? But I was either pregnant or nursing so meds were never an option. Heat feels great-a hot bath but you can't sit in there all day! Keep busy-mind over body. Stay away from cold-I live in Chicago so winter is PAINFUL!
I'm so sorry he has "the pain"; some people don't have it with this injury but us, unluckly ones, got it. I hope he can handle it and keep busy. I am very sorry.

I actually stop taking all my med's after watching The Secret DVD. It really is mind over matter but it doesn't work for everyone. I tell my self everyday that i feel great and it works for me. It does suck that we have to go thru such pain that not to many people understand. Keep your mind very busy with positive thoughts.
