Hi Bonnie,

I'm sorry to hear of your baby's injury, my daughter did not have a EMG done, she had a nerve conduction study instead. I'm sorry I can't help more......just make sure you ask your doctor tons of questions.
Bye for now,

Hi,
My son, now 8 months had one last month. First they sent electricity through his arm (nerve conduction test) then they used small needles to probe his muscles to determine what muscle use he had. He only felt two of the seven needle pricks and even then he only reacted with a small cry. He was more upset about having to lie there for so long. It was good that he didn't feel the pain, but it was bad because that meant he doesn't feel pain or any other sensation in his affected arm. You can ask about maybe some pain medication or even sedation. I don't know if they will do it though. Good luck! Breonna, Joseph's mother LOBPI

Hi Bonnie,

this is dawn again, by the sounds of Breonna post Cassidy did have a EMG, however the doctor never refferred to it as anything but a Nerve conduction study,I don't know maybe it's differant in Canada.....anyway Cassidy handled it pretty well, like Breonna said it was more the laying there so long that bothered her. Just give your daughter lots of comfort I guess would be my advice, no matter which way you cut it it's not a fun procedure.
