A couple of weeks ago I started noticing a pain on my left outer forearm (I have LOBPI) that felt like it was on the bone and only hurt when I put pressure on the bone, like when leaning on my forearms. Now I'm having numbness and tingling in my hands and fingers (never had this before), and also the veins in my arm are darkening and become more visible (not raised, just darker). My arm is a little swollen as well. I went to an orthopedist yesterday. He did an x-ray and said it looked fine. He said that it's possible just to have some inflammation related to my BPI, so he put me on Mobic for two weeks and said if it's still bothering me that he'll order a nerve conduction test. But he openly admitted he had no idea what would cause my veins to be getting more visible, but he didn't think it was related to everything else.
The veins showing up started just in my bicep area, mostly on the inside of my arm. I noticed this last week. Now it's spread all the way down the inside of my arm and on the outside as well. I'm starting to get worried. Have any of you had this happen to your BPI arm? Do you guys think it's all related somehow? I'm debating whether to go to another doctor specifically to address the vein issue, since my ortho said he didn't know what that might be.
Trouble with affected arm, not sure if it's related to BPI.

With tingling and numbness I would go to a neurologist ASAP.
Keep us posted, I am curious now...

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Hello Brandy,
Also consider seeing a BPI Specialist AFTER the Neurologist. FYI, the "Events Forum Message Board" has listed a number of Free Clinics arouind the country for Dr. Nath.
A year ago I got alot of questions answered for me at one of these Clinics.

I think I'm going to go to my family doctor today and see what he thinks and if he'll refer me to someone else. A lot of people have mentioned circulatory problems causing the veins to do that. That's got me really worried. I'll let you guys know what I find out. Thanks!
