After bicep lengthening

Post by blakesmom »

Blake came out of his splint for caps/bicep lengthening Sunday and I was just curious how long it took your kids to allow ROMs and to try to bend the elbow?(we're working on the second 8 weeks now) He does really good out of his splint with his shoulder, I just didn't know what other experiences were with the bicep lengthening. Thanks!

Crystal,

Kelsey was slow go at first. She didn't have caps at the same time though. She was in a cast for 8 weeks. Her therapist took it off and made an extension splint that she wore all day for another 8 weeks except for therapy and rom's. She really complained that rom's hurt her elbow, so we just went as far as she tolerated, then increased slowly. Her surgery was in July. We still put her in the splint at night for quite some time. I was afraid she would lose her range, and it also helped hold on the pads for tes:)

Kelsey has caps April 8th. Did Blake get weak wearing the splint? I am curious about what to expect.
