TCH hotel questions

I am just getting started trying to get hotel reservations for our upcoming surgery the end of April. I was quoted a medical discount price of $119 at the Marriott. I was wondering if this sounded like the same amount others have paid who have stayed there.
I was also wondering if anyone has stayed at the Radisson Hotel Convention Center. On the sheet that TCH sent, the price quoted is $49, I believe. I was wondering what the hotel was like.
If anyone would like to share their hotel experiences, I would be happy to hear them. I just finished getting airline tickets taken care of. We were approved by Northwest KidCares, which helps alot, but I still needed to purchase another ticket for my husband and make sure we had the same flights and everything. Then had to try to get 3 seats together, couldn't do it on 2 legs of the trip. We're just hoping someone will switch with us.
I'm really getting nervous about all of this.
Thanks for any information you can share.
Connie

I think it may be cheaper at holiday inn or crowne plaza...
ask for AAA discounts
Entertainment card discounts
etc.
I heard from another mom about two months ago that the radisson you mentioned was not nice...but quite honestly each hotel on the list has had bad and good comments so one can never tell
good luck,
francine

We stayed at the Best Western on Old Spanish Trail earlier this month. Last trip we stayed at the Marriott and paid $119 per night, which came to around $140 per night with taxes.
At the Best Western, we paid $64/night (total $78/night) and we liked it better for several reasons. The best part was the free breakfast; which saved money and time for us. Another plus is they don't have porters and other employess to "tip" every time you turn around, lol. The number for the Best Western is 713-796-1000. If you use them, make sure you ask for the medical rate.
Good luck with your trip!

Hi, I tryed to save some money and went there and it wasnt nice nor did I save any money.. I emailed you too.
Dont stay there!!! Stay near the hospital downtown. That hotel dosent offer much for a family and there were little roaches in our room, limited shuttles and the cabs were way expensive to go anywhere.
Even the shuttle to the hospital in the morning was bad..I thought my husband was going to choke the driver and we were going to need neck braces for whiplash cuz he drove with his foot on the brake every ten feet.

I am not sure that you are talking about the same Best Western. The one that we stayed at was new and had just opened October 2001. We stayed there in Nov. and it was nice and clean. Also it is located directly across the street from the Crowne Plaza which is really close to TCH. We had great shuttle service. We learned from the airport shuttle people that there is another older Best Western farther away that was recently remodeled, they almost took us to the wrong one. What is the address of the one you were talking about? Just trying to make sure that you are not talking about the one we stayed at last Nov. since we are going to stay in there again for mod quad April 23rd.

I think Patti was talking about the Radisson Convention Center that I had asked about in my original post. I know sometimes all of this gets so confusing.
I wanted to thank everyone for their input. It makes it so nice to have information on which to base decisions. We're still not exactly sure what we're doing, but all of this sure has helped.
We're getting ready to leave town for the weekend, so I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter.

We were just at TCH in Feb. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza right across the street from TCH. Very nice....medical rate was $89.00. The Holiday Inn is also across the street...medical rate is $79.00. Have also heard bad things about the Radisson. Crowne is the very closest hotel. We walked to everything from there. There is a very nice park, Hermann's Park and the Houston zoo just six blocks from hotel. Very inexpensive and a great way to spend a fun day before all the hospital stuff. We had a good experience with the Crowne Plaza.

We always stay at the Residence Inn, about a mile south of TCH on Main St, and have always paid $78.00/night for their medical rate. The hotel is nice, quiet and has a huge courtyard to walk around plus numerous hot tubs which Natalie loves. We don't rely much on the shuttle service which does operate from there. We usually rent a car and love going down to Kemah whenever we have some extra time. Good Luck!

Yes, I meant the radisson convention center, near the astrodome and the amusement park. We didnt like it there.
