Tingling in fingers

Did anyone that had the Mod Quad done get tingling in there fingers when they increased the splint??? Frankie has been great with the splint but now when the OT increases the pillow from 90 to 110 degrees his fingers go numb and tingle when we pull the foam out it stops Thanks Mare

Yep, I did. If it happened really soon after they increased the supination on my hand (within say 5 minutes or so) they told me to let them know, that it meant they had turned my arm a bit too far. Then they would readjust it. Otherwise, they said it will happen, because they muscles etc aren't used to it, but will get used to it.

Yes, I had that too and needed to decrease the level of splinting. Eventually it adjusted. You want to be careful not to stretch it too much too quickly. Check with the doctor if you are unsure.

Thanks for the info yes the 1st time it was within 5 minutes of the ot increasing the splint but yesterday was weird he had been wearing it with the increase for two days when it went numb and tingling. You also have to keep asking him because if it numb he doesn't have alot of feeling in the hand so he pinches it to check. Thursday the splint comes off after 3 weeks what can I expect will it go down by itself will it hurt and when he's wearing the splint with the increase at night what if it goes numb can anything bad happen to the arm because of that. And will he have to use the splint during the day because the arm is use to being up???

I didnt have the MQ but I remember coming out of an airplane splint that kept me at a 90 degree angle for 6 weeks. It was a bit painful but once it ranged back down I dont remember it being too bad. I was 10 at the time so it was a long time ago. Tylenol or something a bit stronger about a half hour or so before the splint comes off will help a lot. Also warm water helps the muscles to relax so if its hurting after maybe they have a heated pool? I think I had 4 days of therapy in the pool after that splint came off.

I had the same splint as Amy and yes I was sore when my arm came out of it. I was 15 at the time. I asked for a normal sling to use during the day for the first week, as I felt like I needed the extra support at first.

I too had the tingling in my fingers due from stretching it a bit to fast. I remember the sharp electric shooting pains that would shoot down my arm clear to my fingers also. They said that was due the my nerves trying to fire up. Just letting me know they were there.
