Amber's Upcoming Birthday

Once again, I'm starting to reflect on the process my daughter, myself, and my family went through to welcome Amber on her birthday almost 4 years ago. Her birthday is the 5th of November, but it was one of those "long processes" that most women describe (believe me, I have heard all the stories before since I'm a labor nurse...ha, ha). I feel like this year though it's more about the excitement of her birthday being a special day for her rather than those creeping feelings of sadness about her injury spoiling it for me. It's a happy process. It's nice this year so far. Whew! I knew this day would come. Don't get me wrong. I'm still having times when it's quite difficult to process some of my emotions over Amber's injury. I think what has helped so much is that my daughter has had wonderful progress, her spirit is so high, my family is supportive, the doctor/therapist team that we use are great, and I have a wonderful support unit from my UBPN family here. Thanks so much.

Happy Birthday to Amber

My mother use to go over my birth with me on my birthday and it usually ended with the following statement.

"We were so lucky, you survived and we both made it"
"God was so good to send you to me in my old age"

It was when I found UBPN that I understood her need to think about the events of that day with me. My Dad died when I was ten and I guess by putting a positive spin on the event it helped her. I realize now my birth was a bitter sweet day for her.

Please ENJOY the day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMBER!!

Tanya you have all ready made wonderful lemonade with the lemons you recieved 5 years ago[I do NOT mean Amber!!!...], by posting helpful,Compassionate information for all of us UBPN Family..AND also given very needed Compassionate Care to all of your OB/Labor Room Mothers. We moms never forget, but it does get easier to deal with in time,I promise you.

Do something enjoyable for yourself on Amber's Birthday. How about a pedicure or massage!!

HUGS to you and Amber,:)
