I spent many hours reading all the postings & now I want to share my success story. One year ago I had a skydiving accident. I injured my radial nerve right where it branches off the brachial plexus. Right after my accident I had unbelievable pain (burning/needle like) in my forearm. A strong breeze hitting my arm could bring me to tears. I was on neurontin for awhile & I am very lucky to report that the pain eventually went away. I also had a wrist drop, loss of my triceps and deltoid. I was destroyed by my injury and went on a mission to get better. I saw 9 neurologists before I found one that could help. She is my hero. She sent me off to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester to their brachial plexus center.

I had three surgeons who said they could make me better. During a 7 hour surgery, surgeons transferred three tendons in my wrist (to give me mobility) & did a 4 inch nerve graft. Recovery was not fun, but 6 months after surgery my wrist & fingers are moving! I have to wait to see if the nerve surgery was a success, but as you know - having my hand back, gives me my life back.

Besides shopping around for neurologist, I also saw several hand therapists before settling on one. She is amazing. She worked with me daily and answered so many questions. She was able to explain everything to me and spend time with me. The moral of my story: don't give up. If one doctor can't help, maybe the next one can. There are so many amazing people that helped me, and I hope you all can find help too.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! What a wonderful success story. You did the right thing by not giving up. My daughter is 3 1/2 years old and I think we have seen every neurologist and therapist in Louisiana. We have even gone to Texas and Pennsylvania. Best of luck with you arm and hand!

Have you ran across any specialists for BPI in Illinois? That is where I live too and cannot come acros anyone that knows anything.....were are you from? GAYLE
