NEW TO THE BOARD

my name is jason, im 35 in beaumont texas, i was injured on may 5 2006. man where have yall been?

i have one question for now...

How do i keep the swelling out of my arm and hand?

right now that seems to be my biggest complaint! I mean ofcourse the pain is unreal and lack of sleep, but if i can fibd a way to get the swelling gone... i would be alot better off.

i was hit in the head by a racecar...lucky nothing was severed...i just have lots of swelling that seems to still be affecting the nerves.

glad to find this site, and will read much more later.

if anyone likes to talk about this or would like to listen to some of my questions...i would be interested in a phone conversation...as typing is kinda tough on me...

please let me know...

thanks in advance

Hi Jason,
Welcome to the boards!! You have come to the right place to find support and understanding. Sorry to hear about your accident. My son Dustin had a TBPI on 11/2/05. He is now 19 and we continue to work at trying to get some function. He doesn't have swelling so don't have any help for you there. One thing to keep in mind is that the nerves heal slowly so it will take time. Your injury seems to be fairly new. Dustin did have some puffiness early that they said was due to the arm hanging limp and blood pooling as his arm wasn't moving and sending the blood back. When he exersized it it helped with that, even when he just flexed the hand you could see a difference. I think holding up a bit would help him too. Not sure if that is the type of swelling your talking about.
