hey all,
I'm a 18 year old guy and I have had brachial plexus injury since birth. I'm posting here for a few reasons. First, I'd like to say I've read some posts on here and its great to see the optimism and understanding showed here. With all the shallowness of the "real world" it's good to know that there are people that understand. Also I wanted to know if their was anyone around my age on here so I could ask them of their experiences ect. My injury is not to bad I guess you could say im lucky compared to some people which is why I have so much respect for anyone that is worse off then me because I have a hard enough time dealing with it. The hardest part has gotta be having one huge arm and one small arm and looking in the mirror and knowing i'd be a real buff guy if it wasn't for my shoulder and then you get to thinking what girl would wanna be with someone with a weak arm. Now this is where I got some good news, you gotta say if this girl won't be with ya because of your arm ummm you don't wanna be with her in the first place and there is someone out there for you sure i've had girlfriends but never been in love. That's why you can use your disability to find out who are the good people in your life. You know the shallow assholes that would point it out infront of a group of people and make fun of it, and that is the hardest part right there knowing that if you had 2 strong arms you could beat the living shit outta this guy he would never mess with you but he uses his unfair advantage of being "normal" against you. Now I know i'm going on but I'm just trying to get the message across that these people are not better then you I found that out awile ago and that is why im almost totally at peace with my arm. The best people in your life are gonna be your close friends and ones you love who will always be understanding. Surround yourself with the right people and youll enjoy every day of your life. P.S. I might be having a shoulder fusion beginning of next summer so with that and therapy i can probly gain back motion and strength. I've wasted enough of your time, I'll read your responses and post again.
Peace
