Hey everyone I was so happy to see the board back!YEAH!!! We go back to Atlanta on Monday for our 1year post op appointment and I have some question but thought you all might be able to help me also. Brayden went swimming this weekend and I and his grandmother noticed his shoulder is sloping? Does anyone know why that might be? I don't remember if it was present before hand or not but I will be looking in some of photos to see. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ashley, mom to Brayden 3 GA

My granddaughter has had MOD Quad and triangle tilt, and has great function and improvement in look of her arm (neutral), but still has some scapular winging and shoulder slope. She sees Dr. Nath, and he indicated her slope comes from the upper part of the scapula bone protruding upwards.

Dr. Nath told us the same thing and our daughter hasn't had surgery. Her OT is aware of it and they are working on exercises to stretch the muscles,i guess it's fairly common.

My shoulder is sloped too, makes wearing a bra hard... unless it crosses in the back.

My shoulder slops and I have scapular winging.
Can't use the crossed straps or it would drive me crazy. I think it's a sensory thing and it's uncomfortable.

I didn't know if this was common and if there might be some exercises that helps with the sloping shoudler. Brayden has great range since his surgery and can pretty much do anything he wants but the sloping shoulder had me worried. He is no longer in OT but if there are some exercises that can help I will gladly request it on Monday. And help about that is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
