First Consultation...HELP!!!!

Post by concernedsister »

Yesterday I went with my sister to the first of many (I am sure) doctor appointments in N.Y.. We first did an EMG and then we met with the Dr. that would do her surgery. With her avulsions in C7 and C8 and possibly T1 he said that he would after an 12 hour surgery most likely be able to give her function in her shoulder and elbow, but the fingers are too far for the nerves to reach. WOW! After a 12 hour surgery and still not able to use fingers.... surprising...I contacted Dr. Kline and am waiting for response. I understand that he wrote the book on this injury..possibly he may get better results.... Those familiar with these type of avulsions please talk to me...Thanks so much

We saw Dr. Tiel (Dr. Kline's associate) this week. The wait to see him was shorter - we got in within 2 weeks where it was 6 weeks for Dr. Kline. We were very pleased with him. I think that the address & phone # on the medical resources page is not currently correct. Hurricane Katrina has moved them. They are now on Prytania Street in New Orleans (across from Touro Infirmary). The phone number that we used was 1-504-842-4632 - the nurse's name is Judy. Good luck & God Bless.
