Hello everyone. Just found out Emma needs bicep lengthening and capsuledsis combined and we are going for that on April 1. I would gladly accept any words of wisdom you may have, would love to hear your stories and your outcomes of these surgeries. Also, would love to meet anyone else who will be there that day.

Our son had biceps, brachialli lengthening and caps done 7 weeks ago. He did wonderful and we are so pleased to see his arm so straight(even if it is splinted) good luck, Blake gets his splint off March 25.

Kathy- I have a whole section on Maia's site about Capsulodesis....pictures of the splint and all... although Emma's will be different - probably straight out to the side cuz of the biceps lengthening...
http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/homepage.html go to the capsulodesis section.

I have a picture a little one on injurednewborn http://www.injurednewborn.com showing the splint that Emma will probably get...
It is on the home page on the left side - little guy, blonde hair, in a green hospital gown.... (He's a sweety isn't he?

My comment to you is to be honest with Emma in a good way.... I told Maia that she was having the surgery to make her arm stronger and when the splint came off and she couldn't move her arm she was devastated.... so boy did I learn a lesson!!

We'll be praying for you guys on April 1st!

Kathy - My son Justin (6) just had capsuledisus and bicep tendon lengthening and also pec release done eight weeks ago. We just took the splint off on Monday and he is doing wonderfully. The surgery went well. He was not happy when he woke up from surgery. He was very aggitated and seemed to be in some pain but the tylenol w/codein helped alot. Within four days he was running around with the splint as if it was a part of him. The eight weeks went rather fast and he actually didn't want to take the splint off. We have a lot of therapy ahead but we are hopeful that we will be pleased with the finished product. Good luck to you. Let me know if you have any other questions.
