I recently suffered a TBPI on the 7th Nov05 and had my op which reimplanted the nerves, however i have not heard of anyone that has had this done. I also damaged my right peroneal nerve which has left me with a drop foot can this recover fully with nerve grafting any information would be appreciated.

Hi Tony
I assume you're in the UK as you've had nerves reimplanted, I don't think that is happening anywhere else yet. There is a website for tbpi in the UK at www.tbpi_group.org with a message board, I believe there is at least one person posting there who had a successful reimplantation of nerves. You need to ask your doctor about the peroneal nerve, if the damage isn't too bad then it would recover without grafting.

Nice to 'meet' you anyway, let us know more about yourself :0)

Tony,
Sorry about your injury. I did lots of research on re-implantation after my injury (avulsion of C5,6, &7) but never was able to actually find someone that had it done. Did Dr. Carlstedt preform your operation? How soon after injury did you have it done? I met up w/Carlstedt in London to talk about possible surgeries. I'll keep my eyes open incase I run into someone out there that has had reimplantation surgery as well.

Good Luck,
Chris

Christopher, I think that Rekha who posts at the tbpi site had some reimplantations, she posts as T2 I think, but not very often.
Tony, the address I gave you is wrong, try http://www.tbpiukgroup.homestead.com/index_1.html
for the website and http://pub28.ezboard.com/badultswithbra ... usinjuries for the messageboard.
Hope that helps :0)
