does anyone know how to get into the mayo clinic? do you just pick up the phone and call and talk with someone? is it based on referrals only? if they are the ones to see, i'd like to find out how you go about doing it. if anyone has any info, i'd appreciate it.
thanks

I think they have info on their web site. But you might need a referal. Either way your regular doctor should be able to get you in there. Doctors calling other doctors seems to make more progress. Good luck getting an appointment there!

Hey - if it helps, I have two numbers saved in my cellphone related to Mayo appointments:

- 507-284-8008
- 507-266-0537 Jeannie. I think she supports Dr. Alex Shin

I'm not sure if one is better than the other.

I agree that your best bet will be to have your doctor make a call. For one thing, the types of questions they need answered might better be handled by your doctor. But by all means, follow up yourselves!!

We don't think you can do better than Mayo...

btw, Mayo tends to be heavily booked so if time is of the essense you might also contact Dr. Allan Belzburg at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. His team can offer the same surgical options as Mayo and each highly respects the other. I don't think Belzburg has as long a waitlist as Mayo.

Take care,

Ellen

507-266-0537 Appointment Secretary for Mayo BPI team - Jeannie

Call Jeannie for appointment, & if you get one too far down the road, call back once or twice a week to check in for cancellations. I've been able to shave off months of waiting doing this, on two different occasions because of cancellations they had. Best of luck.

We asked our Dr to send a referral for us, as they did not speciallize in this type of injury. They were very willing to help.

I just called the mayo clinic and made an appointment. I didn't need a referral from the doctor. I did tell the doctor I was going and they sent an extensive report back to him which was kinda nice. The Drs. at the Mayo are top notch. I would go no where else.
