Post by Donna (Colleen's Mom) »

Unbelievable, but yes, she took off the pronator splint because if was itchy!
I feel I am in for a long eight weeks...

ohmygod- did you freak?

donna - what we did we with maia was take it off and we laid her down (she was not alllowed to move her arm at all) with her arm up and I would put on a hot washcloth to soften her skin then I would scrub it all off - then I would put on eucerin cream and put either a long sleeve undershirt on or stockinette or gauze (depending on how bad her skin breakdown was).

But the scrubbing and creaming really helped with the itchies....

good luck!

Oh no. Is it not supposed to come off like with the mod quad? Did you talk to Dr. Shenaq about this. Ugh! I feel for ya hon! Call me when you get a chance. Don't worry about calling me at work either, I won't get in trouble! :)

Francine,
I hope I freaked enough to give her the impression that she should not take it off again!

I thought about the stockinette, but I thought it would be too hot for her. I have been removing the splint daily and really washing her arm up, and letting the water run over her hand. I also let her take a paper towel and "scratch" the itchy area. That seemed to satisy her for a while.

Only one more week for the Steri-Strips and seven more weeks for the splint!
