Courtney, My daughter and I will be going out to Mayo on the 24th for an eval on the 25th and 26th. This is her first evaluation for surgery since her accident Nov 13, 2005. Sue

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

Well, I won't be there Court, but I can wish you all the best!
Let us know what they say, did the previous 2 opinions agree with one another? It would be hard if they all said different things.....
take it easy and keep us posted luv.

Sue... I emailed you... Thanks Jen! I actually got differing opinions from two different BPI docs! That is why I am heading to Mayo for a third opinion. We are looking for a general concensus! I will let ya know how we make out.

Hey Courtney - instead of a third opinion, you're actually getting a third, fourth & fifth opinion since each of the three primary doctors is an independent thinker, as well as having different specialties. They'll talk through their impressions of your test results until they reach consensus.

What do the first two doctors you've seen think should be done?

Tell the team 'hi' from us & keep us posted,

Ellen
