I am in Newport News. There is a doctor in Richmond at Retreat Hospital, he knows BPI and is a great man. His name is Dr.Hallene Maragh. Maybe you could get some help from him to find a therapist. CHKD in Norfolk is great too. I also think there is another therapist closer to you, just not sure of the name. I found Javier's therapist in the phone book. I just called around for about 2 weeks and asked lots of questions until I found one that I liked.

Good Luck, Marlyn

thank you so much for your help, i've meet dr.maragh and he is a great man,but my insurance would'nt cover my sn under him. i have ben talking to a pt at the children's hospital in richmond so hopefully they will be able to help me. this is first time on this site it is great to be able to talk to other people who are going thru the same things that we are. how old is your son? how is he coming along with his bpi? ihope that all is well.

Roxxy- I absolutely loved Dr. Maragh. He sat with us for more than 2 hours when Javier was a young baby. He explained EVERYTHING about BPI. JAvier will be 2 in MAy. He had primary surgery with nerve grafts done on Valentine's Day last year. We went to Miami Children's Hospital. He has made some progress, and can weight bear alot. But that is really all he has, keep in mind that his injury is quite severe.

my son aj will be 3 in may and he just had his muscle transfer surgery in philly with dr cornwall who is also a great man and dr. aj has a great deal of functional use however he was not able to raise his arm very high or move his arm out to his side. so our hope is that after this surgery he will be able to gain more functional movement.
