Here it goes....
(1) the macarena!! (remember that dance/song?) it does great ranges!
(2) have her wear pants with pockets in the back - put things in pockets and have her try to reach for it
at first start out with things that completely stick out of the pocket and out the side - like a long stick or something that is angled.... (how about a pinwheel on a long stick with the end angled at 90 degrees so it sticks in her pocket)
then as she progresses you make the item shorter and shorter so that she reaches farther and farther behind
until she can actually take something small out of the pocket
(3) imagine yourself sitting on the floor watching tv... now lean back on your hands....you hands point backward and they weightbear for your torso - can you picture this?
hope this helps,
this came from Leslie McKibben, PT from the Melbourne BPI support group..she's also the TES instructor and also has a bpi herself!
