You would have to call his office, but I believe that he does. Dr. Shenaq is a world renown surgeon as well as a wonderful man. He is really kind and gentle with the children that he sees. We have always been extremely happy with him. His information can be found in the Resouces section of this website. You would be doing yourself and your child a great service by calling him. He is truly an amazing man. We have had two surgeries with him and we just can't say enough good about him. The other great benefit to seeing him is that he takes many different insurance plans, so you KNOW you can get the help that your child needs. Good luck to you.

From our experience, Dr. Shenaq didn't want to have to do primary surgery unless he felt it would be the best thing to do. It so happened that our child did not continue to improve and he did perform the nerve graft surgery. There was no loss of function, and we are very pleased that he made the best choice for our child.

The way the post is worded, I thought you were asking if Dr. Shenaq performs primary surgery. He does, the result is very different depending on the severity of child etc... there are many variables. You cannot compare these children. You would have to speak to him directly to see how it would benefit your child specifically. Dr. Shenaq is a very skilled surgeon, but he is not "scalpel happy"... he only operates when he sees that there is a definite need. he is considered to be more on the conservative side... he believes in letting the body heal itself as much as it can.Once you determine need, then he will tell you all the details and how your child individually will respond to the treatment. Good luck with your decision. Sorry, but there are no concrete, generic answers to your question.
