For those of you that have traveled to the Mayo, what hotels have you stayed in? Also, what were they like?

Anyone stay at the Colonial Inn accross the street from the Mayo?

Most of those hotels the closest to the Mayo clinic are gross.I would try the Holiday Inn or another chain hotel

Peter,
I've stayed at a few hotels in Rochester. If you're having surgery and have family or friends staying with you, The Staybrigde Suites are clean and very conveniently located across the street from St. Mary's Hospital (where the surgeries take place). It's about a mile from the town center and the Mayo's Main buildings, but they've got a shuttle and I never found much to do in the 'downtown' area anyway. Prices are reasonable and they've got a pool, gym and business center.

Good luck

Peter,

We always tried to stay at the Kahler Economy Inn (note - NOT the pricy "Kahler Inn"!) The Economy Inn is a couple blocks away & connected by underground tunnel, & I think rooms were in the $80's - including kitchenette. The staff are very considerate.

Take care,

Ellen

I have been to Rochester 24 times. I have stay at the Holiday Inn further out, last time I was there it was pretty beat up. I have stayed at the hotel across the street from the Holiday Inn next to a Denny's, it was ok but no pool. If your staying days I'd find one w/ a pool. I have stayed the most at the Kahler Inn. Its nice, rooms are small and very old. But VERY clean. Staff was excellent and resturants were good. I'm always there in the winter so we don't want to go outside. All the hotels have shuttles.
