shoulder subluxation
shoulder subluxation
I am 6 months post accident and 2 months post Nerve Transplant surgery. Thus far the only improvement I have noticed is increased strength and ROM of my fingers. I still have sever shoulder subluxation, and I experience elbow and shoulder pain from my drooping muscle, and of course, the constant nerve pain ! Is shoulder subluxation perminant? Will I need a future surgery to fix shoulder subluxation?I wear a sling, but the sling hardly supports my shoulder. I am having a hard time finding a brace that specifically supportd the shoulder. Can anybody guide to find a shoulder brace? This BPI injury is nasty, I hope the pain and deformity of my arm subsides in the future? Thanks
Re: shoulder subluxation
Hi
You could try getting hold of one of these things
http://www.tbpiukgroup.homestead.com/re ... plint.html As you can see, it is very easy to wear and can be worn under clothing. It was designed specifically for shoulder subluxation caused by BPI. There are other orthoses out there and varying shoulder/arm cuffs, but this one is the only one I have actually seen being used. Good luck in your search.

Re: shoulder subluxation
Hi, You're right - this injury is . My son was injured 10 mos ago and had surgery 7 mos ago and also has shoulder subluxation as well as elbow hyperextension. We've been working w/our therapist and an orthotist to try to come up w/a complete arm support, but to no avail thus far. There are some options out there, but because he's only 8yrs old, we have to have something custome made. Here are some links to what I've found:

I also like the Wilmer Orthosis posted in the earlier response, and we'll likely incorporate that general idea into our final brace.
Good luck to you!

Re: shoulder subluxation
My opinion, well plublicized tough it may be, is to check out my "borg arm" on http://www.tbpiukgroup.homestead.com/
I don't walk to my car without that thing, and the prosthetics gal that helped me out with it just presented a national paper on it. It's the "bomb" and so is she. Bag those slings and splints and clip that dead appendage to your belt.
