Has any one need an adjustment to the upper spine C5-C7 region? My back has been going numb so my OT had been doing ultrasound and deep tissue massage, and my neck hurts bad at that spot. It does not hurt as long as it is not being touched. But as soon as you touch that area it hurts. Should I see a chiropractor? I have never seen one before not sure what to expect if I do see one.
Thanks,
Amy 18 ROBPI from MN

Re: Chiropractic treatment?
Hey Amy, I just started seeing a chiropractor about 3 months ago and I LOVE IT! There are people who think I am nuts, getting my neck adjusted and such but it really has been making a ton of difference. I had been having back pains in my lower thorasic area and upper lumbar. I went for a consult and my back is a mess! My neck has no natural curve, that it should have! I think as long as your insuaance will cover it, go check it out. Even just a consult and see what they have to say..... Good luck!

Amy, chiropractic can be great. Like anything else, you have to find the right person. So find someone that other people you know go to and trust and fully inform him about bpi, don't assume he/she knows too much about it at all. There should be absolutely no "lateral traction" on your neck.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Amy
Our guest have given some good advice.
I go to a PT who is also a Chiropractor and it has helped me.
It helps keeps me straight.
The right side of my back is smaller and weaker and the muscles out of balance I can use the help.
Bring this doctor tons of information on BPI don't assume they know everything about it. Bring an Outreach or two for him to read.
I don't allow my neck to be cracked at ALL ever.
