My name is Robin and I'm new to this site. My son has a ltbpi due to a 4-wheeler accident on Aug 18, 2004. It discloated his shoulder and ended up with 5 nerve root avulsions. Dr. Nath did his surgery on Dec. 27, 2004. He can extednd his elbow out and move his wrist up about 10 degrees. His pain is so bad and I was just wondering what everyone else is taking?

Hello! My BPI occured two years ago and I've been on Neurontin, Nortriptyline and Zanaflex. I switched from Neurontin to Lyrica a few months ago but had it caused major problems with constipation - and it's expensive. So, I've switched back to Neurontin.

Just a note, Zanaflex is not for pain, it is for spasms. I too take Neurontin (gabapentin) and have recently begun trying Lyrica (pregabalin).

Yes you are correct. Zanaflex is for the muscle spasms caused by damaged nerves? I've been on these darn drugs for so long, I myself can't even remember why anymore :)

hehe, I know what you mean! I take many meds (none related to my OBPI, I have another neurological disorder that caused me to become paralyzed from the chest down). Thought I'd just clarify the Zanaflex :)
Didn't realize that I wasn't logged in last night either! Hope no one minds that I posted on the TBPI board, even though I am OBPI :), I like to read all the boards.
Happy New Year to all!

Cody's doctor wants him to change from Neurontin to Lyrica, but one of the warnings is that if you are a male in child bearing years you could become less fertile and cause birth defects. I would like some normal grandchildren sometime in the future. So right now he is sticking to the neurontin, besides all of the other meds.
