Great Report

Hey everyone. Just wanted to brag. Brayden is now out of everything ( cast, splint, etc.) 11 weeks post-op. We got a really good report from his doctor last week. Everything looks real good. He has so much more movement now. If I had to guess I would say 95% recovery. His therapist is just blown away by his recovery. She said that range wise Brayden is doing great but now we have to rewire his brain on how to do some things the right way and not the compensated way. I just wanted to brag. And I just Thank God everyday that I found his DR. We go back in 3 months and then after that once a year. I had such a hard time deciding to do the surgey or not. And now I don't regret it one bit. It was a hard decision but it was worth every bit. Just thought I would share to everyone our recovery. I know it means more to other parents who have children with BPI to hear success stories on surgery. All our family says that is great but I know it means more to people here. Thanks for letting me share.

That's awesome....so happy for you and your family! Although my daughter is so far surgery free, one never knows what the future holds and it is relieving to hear success stories, post surgery!
Thanks for the post and yay for Brayden

Congratulations on the great news. My wife and I are now making the decision to get the surgery on our daughter (LOBPI) who just turned 3. You know how difficult that can be and it is so great to hear a success story and what we have to look forward to.
One question, how did Brayden adapt to the surgery and the post-op, (i.e. being in the cast and splint, etc.) and the physical therapy afterwards? I am worried about how miserable Kalyn will be in the casts and doing the new PT.

Brayden did real well with the cast. His cast was all of his upper body. He learned how to play and crawl under stuff, run, and everything. The only thing that was out of the question was potty training. His cast came down real far and he had a time sitting straight up. The only thing that he was upset about was not being able to take a bath(he loves a bath). I was so afraid he was going to be stiff when they took off the cast but he wasn't. He did real well and I am very pleased. He is quieter at therapy now which is unusual for him. Kids are so tough, they bounce back much quicker that us. Good Luck, if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.
